Product Specifications
The CONTRAfluranTM Canister
The canister is made with recyclable polypropylene and filled with highly specialised coconut-derived carbon filters.
Anesthetic gas is captured and retained in filter pores inside the canister. The canister captures both Suprane (desflurane, USP) and sevoflurane (isoflurane is not preferred).
Once filled, canisters should be sealed in their individual bags (provided) and stored in a dry, well-ventilated space at room temperature.1

SENSOfluranTM and SENSOfluran CONNECT Fill Level Control Unit
The CONTRAfluranTM Anesthetic Gas Capture System has two options for the sensor unit – the standard SENSOfluranTM Sensor unit and the SENSOfluran CONNECT Sensor unit. If using nitrous oxide, the SENSOfluran CONNECT must be used as it connects to the waste anesthetic gas scavenging system within the operating room.
SENSOfluran CONNECT2
- The sensor is both a holder and a sensor. It clamps on to the anesthesia machine and holds the canister.
- A gas sensor detects halogenated anesthetic gas flow as the canister fills
- An LED light panel and audible alarm indicate when the canister is full and needs to be changed
- Connects to the operating theatre’s AGSS to evacuate nitrous oxide.

SENSOfluranTM
The standard SENSOfluranTM sensor unit also holds the CONTRAfluranTM canister and indicates when the canister must be changed. The standard SENSOfluranTM cannot be used with nitrous oxide. To properly handle nitrous oxide, use the SENSOfluran CONNECT
- Similar to SENSOFluran CONNECT, the standard SENSOfluranTM holds the CONTRAfluranTM canister.
- The gas detector at the bottom of the sensor unit detects gas flow coming out of the canister as it fills.
- A LED light panel indicates when the canister is full and needs to be changed.
