In the Operating Theatre
Innovative technology to reduce environmental impact
The CONTRAfluran™ system is simple to install and space-efficient, so it’s easy to use in a hospital or ambulatory operating theatre.
Since both Suprane (desflurane, USP) and sevoflurane can be captured in one canister, clinicians can move freely between either gas, based on what is clinically best for the patient.1
Audible and visual alarms indicate when a canister is full. Changing a canister is a quick process that can be performed during surgery.1
CONTRAfluran™ gives you the flexibility to use the gas that’s right for each patient.1

Since July 2020, environment friendly anaesthesia is being carried out in our operating theatres with the help of CONTRAfluran™ Anaesthetic Gas Capture technology. With CONTRAfluran™ canisters, the anaesthetic gases (desflurane and sevoflurane) are now collected in the 7 operating theatres, resulting in an annual reduction of almost 200 tons of CO2 equivalents. Further, switching off the AGSS has been a good measure towards overall cost reduction, estimating overall 3% savings of energy cost due to our switch to CONTRAfluran™
Dr Stephanie Snyder-Ramos, Krankenhaus Salem, Germany
This is an important technology to reduce the carbon footprint through inhaled anaesthesia gases. Earlier some anaesthesiologists were reluctant to use desflurane, but this Anaesthetic Gas Capture technology has helped in mitigating those challenges."
Dr Carla Bentes, GAIA, Portugal
